Guy Edward Fletcher (Maidstone, Kent, 24 May 1960) is an English multi-instrumentalist, best known for his position as one of the two keyboard players in the rock band Dire Straits from 1984 until the group's dissolution, and his subsequent work with Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler. Fletcher was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Dire Straits in 2018.

Rick Wakeman - 73 anos

      

Richard "Rick" Christopher Wakeman (Londres, 18 de maio de 1949) é um teclista de rock progressivo britânico, um pianista clássico, que se tornou bastante famoso pelo seu virtuosismo noutras áreas. Nos primeiros anos de sua carreira ele foi um pioneiro no uso de teclados eletrónicos e o seu nome tornou-se sinónimo de teclista cercado por uma vasta gama de equipamentos.

Wakeman alcançou a fama em 1970 tocando com a banda The Strawbs, juntando-se aos Yes em 1971. Ele entrou e saiu da banda pelo menos quatro vezes, reflexo de um relacionamento turbulento com o grupo. Em 2002 voltou aos Yes pela quinta vez.

Wakeman tem uma carreira a solo extremamente longa. Ele também tocou como músico convidado para artistas e grupos como Elton John, Brian May, Alice Cooper, Lou Reed, David Bowie, Ozzy Osbourne e Black Sabbath.

Rick Wakeman é considerado um dos pais do Rock Progressivo e do Rock Sinfónico. Wakeman é um teclista brilhante, sendo considerado por muitos, como as mãos mais ágeis dentre todos os teclistas. Utiliza pianos acústicos, elétricos e eletrónicos; sintetizadores; Minimoog; Mellotron; todos os tipos de teclados; órgãos, órgão Hammond; clavicórdios e tudo que tenha teclas.

Wakeman produziu centenas de álbuns com os mais variados temas, desde lendas míticas da antiga Inglaterra até sobre o Espaço Sideral, passando por reis, rainhas, temas astrológicos, bandas sonoras para filmes, entre outros. Produziu tantos álbuns na sua carreira musical que nem mesmo o próprio tem certeza de quantos álbuns produziu ou em que participou, ao todo.

Dois dos seus filhos, Adam Wakeman e Oliver Wakeman, também seguiram a carreira de teclistas, sendo o filho Oliver o que mais se aproxima do estilo do pai. Adam Wakeman é o atual teclista da banda de heavy metal Black Sabbath e toca muito com o pai, aparecendo em diversos álbuns e shows.

Recentemente, no final de 2008, Wakeman foi convidado formalmente pela família real britânica para celebrar os 500 anos da ascensão de Henrique VIII ao trono inglês com um de seus espetáculos, o que deu origem ao show "The Six Wives of Henry VIII Live at Hampton Court Palace" lançado em CD, DVD e Blu-Ray. O show foi realizado num dos castelos construídos por Henrique VIII, o Hampton Court Palace e reuniu uma orquestra com 70 integrantes, um coral de 40 vozes, um quinteto de rock e diversos convidados especiais.

Tony Banks, o teclista dos Genesis, faz hoje 72 anos

  

Anthony George Banks (East Hoathly with Halland, 27 March 1950) is an English musician, songwriter and film composer primarily known as the keyboardist and founding member of the rock band Genesis. Banks is also a prolific solo artist, releasing six solo albums that range through progressive rock, pop, and classical music.

Banks co-founded Genesis in 1967 while studying at Charterhouse as their keyboardist and one of their principal songwriters and lyricists. He became a prolific user of the Hammond T-102 organ, Mellotron, ARP Pro Soloist and Yamaha CP-70 piano. In the band's earliest years Banks would play acoustic guitar for some of the mellow and pastoral songs.

In 2010, Banks was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis. In 2011, he was included on MusicRadar's list of the 27 greatest keyboard players of all time. In 2015, he was named "Prog God" at the Progressive Music Awards.

Alan Clark (Great Lumley, County Durham, England, 5 March 1952) is an English musician who was the first keyboardist and co-producer of the rock band Dire Straits. In 2018, Clark was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a significant member of Dire Straits.

Biography

As a young child Clark received piano lessons. Then whilst still a pupil at Chester-le-Street Grammar School he played Hammond organ in working men's clubs. He continued his formal musical education at Durham Technical College and was offered a place at the Guildhall School of Music, but turned it down because by then he was already forging a successful career in music. He played and recorded with a group called Splinter, who were signed to George Harrison's Dark Horse label, and also Gallagher & Lyle, and did a tour of summer festivals with Lindisfarne, which included Knebworth. He also appeared on a number of tracks of the Geordie album No Good Woman.

Clark joined Dire Straits shortly before the release of Making Movies in 1980, becoming their first and main keyboard player. His playing became an important element and transformed the band into the huge band they then became. While this is notable on their fourth album, Love Over Gold in 1982, his style is also readily apparent on Dire Straits' live album Alchemy, but perhaps his greatest contribution was on the hugely successful Brothers in Arms album. Clark continued with Dire Straits, co-producing the following album, On Every Street with Knopfler, until the band's eventual breakup in the mid-1990s.

In 1983 he contributed to Bob Dylan's album Infidels, which Mark Knopfler co-produced, and he played on the following Empire Burlesque album. Clark also worked with Knopfler on some of his film soundtrack work, most notably on the film Local Hero, in which he also makes a brief appearance as a piano player. He has also worked with Mark's brother David Knopfler on his solo albums and toured and recorded extensively with Eric Clapton as well as playing in the "Orchestra Nights" performances with the National Philharmonic Orchestra and Michael Kamen during the 24 Nights concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in 1990 and 1991. Throughout his time with Dire Straits, he was also Tina Turner's musical director, and played on and arranged her huge hit Private Dancer. Clark has also played and recorded with an eclectic range of other artists including the Bee Gees, Jimmy Nail, Escape Club, Joan Armatrading, Gerry Rafferty, Mick Hucknall, Bill Wyman, Sting, Van Morrison, Sly and Robbie, Shakin Stevens, Roger Daltrey, George Harrison, Elton John, Phil Collins, Bruce Willis etc.

In 2001 Clark composed the music for the hit paranormal show Most Haunted, and has composed many other themes for TV shows and radio commercials. In 2005 he wrote and directed a film to commemorate 25years of the Great North Run, called The Inspiration, which was screened and performed live with the northern Philharmonic, at The Sage in Newcastle.

Later in November 2005, Clark was a member of the house band at "The Hull Story", a tribute to the music of Alan Hull of Lindisfarne. The concert, which took place at Newcastle City Hall in aid of the Young Musicians Fund, is available on DVD. His Hammond playing features extensively throughout.

In 2010 Clark reunited with Dire Straits band members John Illsley and Chris White at the XRoads club in Rome, and has been recording and touring with German star Westernhagen, as well as writing and recording with many other artists at his state of the art studio, including up and coming star Jamie Squire.

In 2011 he formed a band, the Straits, to play the music of Dire Straits at a charity show at the Albert hall, that featured drummer Steve Ferrone from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Dire Straits' guitarist Phil Palmer. The band went on to perform other successful shows.
He is currently a member of a band called LEGACY, which features himself, Phil Palmer, Steve Ferrone, Trevor Horn, Danny Cummings, Mel Collins, Primi de Biasse, and Marco Caviglia, and in 2017 he wrote and produced, with Phil Palmer, and album for the LEGACY called Three Chord Trick.
In 2017 he recorded 4 tracks in Real World studios with Italian artist Pacifico He has also written and recorded the music for many TV commercials
He has lately been recording with Trevor Horn, and playing in his band.

Ray Manzarek, teclista dos The Doors, nasceu há 83 anos

   
Raymond Daniel Manzarek (Chicago, 12 de fevereiro de 1939 - Rosenheim, 20 de maio de 2013) foi um músico dos Estados Unidos. Foi o teclista da banda de rock The Doors, de 1965 a 1973, e também a partir de 2001 (por motivos legais, chamada de Manzarek-Krieger, desde 2009).

Na música "Close to you", gravada ainda com a formação original dos The Doors, ou seja, com Jim Morrison, quem canta é Ray, não Jim. Após a morte de Jim, a banda The Doors lançou 2 álbuns, Full Circle e Other Voices, nos quais os vocais eram de Ray ou Robbie, o guitarrista.

Manzarek gravou também uma adaptação rock de Carmina Burana de Carl Orff com Philip Glass. Produziu a banda X, de Los Angeles, tocou com Iggy Pop e colaborou com o poeta Michael McClure, o qual acompanhou, enquanto este recitava poesia.

Ray também formou a banda Nite City, que lançou dois álbuns: um álbum homónimo em 1976 e outro em 1978.

Ray Manzarek morreu no dia 20 de maio de 2013 na Clínica Romed em Rosenheim, Alemanha, após uma longa batalha contra o cancro do ducto biliar. Ele tinha 74 anos. Na hora de sua morte estava rodeado pela sua esposa Dorothy Manzarek e seus irmãos Rick e James Manzarek. O corpo de Manzarek foi cremado.

Billy Powell, teclista dos Lynyrd Skynyrd, morreu há treze anos

 
William Norris "Billy" Powell (Corpus Christi, Texas, 3 de junho de 1952 - Orange Park, Flórida, 28 de janeiro de 2009) foi um teclista dos Estados Unidos, integrante da banda de southern rock Lynyrd Skynyrd.
     

Biografia

Começou como roadie da banda em 1970, até que, em 1972, durante o aquecimento num show do Lynyrd em Jacksonville, tocou uma versão de "Free Bird" no teclado. O vocalista Ronnie Van Zant ficou tão impressionado que imediatamente o convidou para ser o teclista oficial do grupo.

Sobreviveu ao desastre aéreo que abateu a banda em 1977, sofrendo apenas ferimentos no rosto. Entre essa época e 1987, entrou para uma banda cristã chamada Vision.

Voltou aos Lynyrd em 1987, para uma turnê-tributo, permanecendo com a banda até à sua morte, de ataque cardíaco, em 28 de janeiro de 2009, em Orange Park, Flórida.

David Sinclair (Herne Bay, Kent, 24 November 1947) is a British keyboardist (organ, piano, harpsichord, electric piano, Mellotron, Davolisint, etc.) associated with the psychedelia/progressive rock Canterbury Scene since the late 1960s. He became famous with the band Caravan and was responsible as a songwriter for creating some of their best-known tracks: "For Richard", "Nine Feet Underground", "The Dabsong Conshirtoe", "Proper Job/Back to Front".

Roddy Bottum, teclista dos Faith No More, faz hoje 58 anos

Roddy Bottum (nascido Roswell Christopher Bottum III, Los Angeles, 1 de julho de 1963) é um músico americano, mais conhecido como teclista da banda californiana de rock Faith No More.

Bottum estudou piano clássico desde muito jovem, até se mudar para São Francisco, com 18 anos. Em 1982 juntou-se a seus amigos de escola, Billy Gould e Mike Bordin, formando os Faith No More, grupo em que permaneceu até seu fim, em 1998. Após o álbum Angel Dust, lançado em 1992, no entanto, a sua participação na banda foi drasticamente reduzida. Numa entrevista lançada em edição especial em vinil do álbum King for a Day... Fool for a Lifetime, Bottum explicou que as suas contribuições diminuíram devido à morte de seu pai, naquele mesmo ano. Em 2009 Bottum retornou aos Faith No More para uma turnê de reunião, e uma possível gravação de material inédito.

Entre 1994 e 1995 Bottum formou o grupo Imperial Teen, com a baterista Lynn Perko, outra veterana da cena musical da Bay Area. A banda ficou conhecida pelo single "Yoo Hoo", utilizado no filme Jawbreaker, de 1999.

Darren Dizzy Reed é um um multi-instrumentista norte-americano e teclista que atua na banda Guns N' Roses desde 1990. Começou a sua carreira no show da banda Guns N' Roses no Brasil, no grande festival Rock in Rio de 1991.

Nasceu em Hinsdale, Illinois, em 18 de junho de 1963, é casado há 15 anos e tem duas filhas. Desde o começo dos anos 80 que era muito amigo dos membros dos Guns N' Roses, e uniu-se à banda na gravação dos discos Use Your Illusion (sendo os seus trabalhos mais conhecidos com a banda o piano em "Estranged", "Civil War", "Live and Let Die" e "Since I Don't Have You", de The Spaghetti Incident? e o órgão em "Yesterdays") entre várias interpretações extraordinárias nos shows (ao vivo) com a banda. É o único membro que resiste desde o início da década. Atualmente permanece nos Guns n` Roses, um pouco mais magro que no começo da sua trajetória, e também com novas tatuagens e é, seguramente, o braço direito de Axl Rose (seu amigo e companheiro da banda e com quem tem uma boa relação) nos novos Guns.
