Paul Butterfield nasceu há 83 anos...

  

Paul Butterfield (Chicago, 17 de dezembro de 1942 - North Hollywood, 4 de maio de 1987) foi um músico de blues norte-americano e um dos mais inovadores tocadores de harmónica de Chicago, além de grande inspiração para o surgimento do estilo "electric blues".

Nascido em Chicago, Butterfild começou a tocar ainda adolescente, logo formando uma banda com Jerome Arnold e Sam Lay. A banda The Paul Butterfield Blues Band assinou contrato com a Elektra Records depois de entrar o guitarrista Michael Bloomfield. O seu álbum homónimo foi lançado em 1965. Depois de várias mudanças na formação e no estilo musical da banda, Paul iniciou uma carreira a solo nos anos 70.

Morreu em 1987, por causa do vício do álcool.

Billy Gibbons, cantor e guitarrista dos ZZ Top, celebra hoje 76 anos

 
William Frederick Gibbons mais conhecido como Billy Gibbons (Houston, 16 de dezembro de 1949) apelidado de Reverend Willie G, é um cantor, compositor e guitarrista americano da banda ZZ Top. Foi considerado o 32º maior guitarrista de todos os tempos pela revista norte-americana Rolling Stone.

Gibbons toca uma guitarra Gibson Les Paul de 1959, que ele apelidou de Pearly Gates.

Gibbons tem feito participações em espetáculos de outros artistas e atuado na televisão em diversos programas, como a série Bones. Foi colocado no lugar 32 na lista de 2011 da revista Rolling Stone dos 100 Melhores Guitarristas de todos os tempos.

Billy Gibbons aparece nalguns episódios da série Bones, fazendo o papel de si mesmo (como pai da personagem Angela Montenegro) e teve uma pequena participação na série Two and a half men.

Clifford Williams (Romford, Essex, 14 de dezembro de 1949) é um baixista britânico que foi membro da banda australiana de hard rock AC/DC como baixista e cantor de apoio a partir de 1977, exceto por uma breve retirada, de 2016 a 2018. Começou a sua carreira musical em 1967 e pertenceu anteriormente às bandas britânicas Home e Bandit. O seu primeiro álbum de estúdio com os AC/DC foi Powerage de 1978. Foi introduzido junto ao grupo no Rock and Roll Hall of Fame dos Estados Unidos em 2003. O seu estilo musical é conhecido por linhas básicas de baixo que seguem o ritmo da guitarra; a sua técnica é centrada em downpicking com uso ocasional de pizzicato. Para os concertos ao vivo, tem como marca registada os instrumentos da Music Man, encordoados pela D'Addario. Os seus projetos paralelos, enquanto membro do AC/DC, incluem concertos beneficentes, além de tocar com Emir & Frozen Camels no álbum San (2002) e numa turnê europeia. A sua última participação como baixista dos AC/DC foi em setembro de 2016, ainda no decorrer da turnê Rock or Bust. Retornou à banda em 2020, após o lançamento do álbum Power Up.

Ozzy Osbourne nasceu há 77 anos...

         

John Michael Osbourne, conhecido como Ozzy Osbourne (Birmingham, 3 de dezembro de 1948 – Buckinghamshire, 22 de julho de 2025) foi um cantor, compositor e personalidade dos media britânicos. Ganhou notoriedade na década de 70 como vocalista da banda de heavy metal Black Sabbath, com a qual ajudou a definir o género. Durante esse período, passou a ser conhecido como "Príncipe das Trevas".

Osbourne integrou os Black Sabbath desde a sua formação, em 1968, até 1979, quando foi demitido devido ao abuso de álcool e drogas. Nesse período, foi vocalista em álbuns considerados fundamentais para o heavy metal, começando pelo homónimo Black Sabbath (1970), seguido por Paranoid (1970), Master of Reality (1971) e Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (1973). Após deixar a banda, iniciou uma bem-sucedida carreira a solo com o álbum Blizzard of Ozz (1980), lançando ao todo 13 álbuns de estúdio, sendo os sete primeiros certificados multiplatina nos Estados Unidos. Reuniu-se com os Black Sabbath em diversas ocasiões, incluindo a gravação do álbum final 13 (2013) e uma turnê de despedida encerrada em 2017, em Birmingham.

Roger Glover, baixista dos Deep Purple, comemora hoje oitenta anos...!

      

Roger David Glover (Brecon, País de Gales, 30 de novembro de 1945) é um músico, compositor e produtor musical. É mais conhecido por ser o baixista das bandas de hard rock Deep Purple e Rainbow.

 

Nascido perto de Brecon, País de Gales, Glover se mudou com sua família para St Helens antes de se instalar na área de South Kensington em Londres, com 10 anos de idade. Naquela época, os interesses de Glover começaram a direcionar-se para o rock, e quando tinha treze anos, Glover começou a tocar guitarra. Ele mais tarde mudou-se para o distrito de Pinner, no norte de Londres e, enquanto estudava na Harrow County School for Boys, formou sua primeira banda, Madison, com um grupo de amigos, que mais tarde se fundiu com uma banda rival para se tornar nos Episode Six, uma banda que tinha Ian Gillan. Os dois deixaram a banda em 1969 para se juntar aos Deep Purple. 

 

Depois de passar quatro anos com os Deep Purple, quando a banda teve os seus lançamentos mais bem sucedidos de álbuns, com Rock e Machine Head, Glover, juntamente com Gillan, abandonou a banda após a segunda turnê dos Deep Purple do Japão, no verão de 1973.

Ao longo da década de 70, Glover passou a produzir bandas como Judas Priest, Nazareth, Elf, Ian Gillan Band, e David Coverdale.

Em 1974, Glover lançou o seu primeiro álbum solo, Butterfly Ball. De 1979 a 1984, ele era o baixista, compositor e produtor da banda de Ritchie Blackmore a solo, os Rainbow, trabalhando em quatro álbuns de estúdio do grupo.

Em 1983 gravou o seu terceiro álbum solo, Mask, lançado no ano seguinte. Quando, em abril de 1984 a banda Deep Purple foi recriada, Glover voltou para a sua antiga banda, onde permaneceu durante as últimas três décadas e meia.

Em 1988, Glover e o colega dos Deep Purple, Ian Gillan, gravaram um álbum, como projeto paralelo à banda, Accidentally on Purpose. Quase duas décadas depois, Glover tocou com Ian Gillan durante a breve turnê de Gillan, a solo, em 2006.

Em 2002, Glover lançou o seu quarto álbum a solo, intitulado Snapshot, sob o nome de Roger Glover & The Guilty Party. O álbum contou com performances de Randall Bramblett (com quem compartilhou os créditos de várias faixas), bem como a filha de Glover, Gillian.

Em 2011, Glover lançou o seu quinto álbum solo, If Life Was Easy, que contou com participações especiais de Dan McCafferty, dos Nazareth, e Pete Agnew, bem como Gallay Walther e Daniel "Sahaj" Ticotin.

Christine McVie, uma das vocalistas dos Fleetwood Mac, morreu há três anos...

Christine Anne McVie,  née Perfect (Greenodd, 12 July 1943 – London, 30 November 2022) was an English musician, singer and songwriter. She was best known as keyboardist and one of the vocalists of Fleetwood Mac.

McVie was a member of several bands, notably Chicken Shack, in the mid-1960s British Blues scene. She began working with Fleetwood Mac in 1968, initially as a session player, before joining the band in 1970. Her first compositions with Fleetwood Mac appeared on their fifth album, Future Games. She remained with the band through many changes of line-up, writing songs and performing lead vocals before partially retiring in 1998. McVie was described as "the prime mover behind some of Fleetwood Mac's biggest hits" and eight songs she wrote or co-wrote, including "Don't Stop", "Everywhere" and "Little Lies", appeared on Fleetwood Mac's 1988 Greatest Hits album. She appeared as a session musician on the band's last studio album, Say You Will. She also released three solo studio albums.

As a member of Fleetwood Mac, McVie was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and in 1998 received the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. In the same year, after almost 30 years with Fleetwood Mac, she left the band and lived in semi-retirement, releasing a solo album in 2004. She appeared on stage with Fleetwood Mac at the O₂ Arena in London in September 2013 and rejoined the band in 2014 prior to their On with the Show tour.

McVie received a Gold Badge of Merit Award from BASCA, now The Ivors Academy, in 2006. She received the Ivor Novello Award for Lifetime Achievement from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors in 2014 and was honoured with the Trailblazer Award at the UK Americana Awards in 2021. She was also the recipient of two Grammy Awards.

McVie married John McVie in 1968, with Peter Green as best man. Instead of a honeymoon, they celebrated at a hotel in Birmingham with Joe Cocker, who happened to be staying there, before going on the road with their own bands. The couple divorced in 1976, but remained friends and maintained a professional partnership. During the production of Rumours, Christine had an affair with Fleetwood Mac's lighting engineer, Curry Grant, which inspired the song "You Make Loving Fun". From 1979 to 1982, she dated Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys. McVie married Portuguese keyboardist and songwriter Eddy Quintela on 18 October 1986. Quintela and McVie collaborated on a number of songs together, including "Little Lies". They divorced in 2003, and Quintela died in 2020.

During the height of Fleetwood Mac's success in the 1970s, McVie resided in Los Angeles in a house that had previously been owned by Joan Collins and by Elton John. In 1990, she moved to a Grade II-listed Tudor manor house in Wickhambreaux, near Canterbury in Kent, to which she retired after leaving Fleetwood Mac in 1998, and worked on her solo material. For years McVie found inspiration in the home's country setting, not only writing songs there, but also restoring the house. After rejoining Fleetwood Mac in 2014, she began spending more time in London, and put the house on the market in 2015.

McVie died in hospital on 30 November 2022, at the age of 79. Her death was announced by her family through social media. In a statement following her death, Fleetwood Mac said that she was "the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best friend anyone could have in their life". Fellow band member Stevie Nicks said McVie had been her "best friend in the whole world". According to her death certificate revealed in April 2023, McVie died of a stroke and suffered from metastatic cancer of unknown primary origin.

John Mayall nasceu há 92 anos...

   

John Brumwell Mayall (Macclesfield, Cheshire, England, 29 November 1933 – California, 22 July 2024) was an English blues and rock musician, songwriter and producer. In the 1960s, he formed John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, a band that has counted among its members some of the most famous blues and blues rock musicians. A singer, guitarist, harmonica player, and keyboardist, he had a career that spanned nearly seven decades, remaining an active musician until his death aged 90. Mayall has often been referred to as the "godfather of the British blues", and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the musical influence category in 2024.

Albert Collins morreu há 32 anos...

Albert Gene Collins, known as Albert Collins and the Ice Breakers (Leona, Texas, October 1, 1932 – Las Vegas, Nevada, November 24, 1993), was an American electric blues guitarist and singer with a distinctive guitar style. He was noted for his powerful playing and his use of altered tunings and a capo. His long association with the Fender Telecaster led to the title "The Master of the Telecaster".

In his early days, Collins worked as a paint mixer and truck driver to make ends meet. In 1971, when he was 39 years old, he worked in construction, since he could not make a proper living from his music. One of his construction jobs was a remodeling project for Neil Diamond. He continued with this type of work until the late 1970s, when his wife, Gwen, talked him into returning to a career in music.

After a three-month battle with cancer, Collins died at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 24, 1993. He was 61 years old. Surviving him were his wife, Gwendolyn, and his father, Andy Thomas.

With the Beatles é o segundo álbum do grupo de rock inglês The Beatles, lançado a 22 de novembro de 1963, no mesmo dia em que o presidente dos Estados Unidos John F. Kennedy era assassinado em Dallas, Texas.

Gravado quatro meses após ser lançado o primeiro álbum, repetia a fórmula de Please Please Me. Selecionaram-se 7 composições próprias de Lennon/McCartney e incluiu-se novamente 6 covers das prediletas do repertório dos Beatles. George Harrison comparece com uma composição própria "Don't Bother Me" neste trabalho, cuja música mais conhecida acabou por ser "All My Loving".

The Beatles é o décimo álbum dos Beatles, lançado como disco duplo a 22 de novembro de 1968. Este álbum está na lista dos 200 álbuns definitivos no Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

É popularmente conhecido como The White Album (O Álbum Branco), por não ter nome, e ser apenas um fundo branco com o nome da banda em relevo. A capa foi criada pelo artista pop Richard Hamilton e o título original era para ser A Doll’s House, mas uma banda britânica chamada Family, já tinha lançado um álbum com nome similar. Foi o primeiro disco lançado após a morte do manager Brian Epstein.

Em 1997, O Álbum Branco foi nomeado o décimo melhor disco de todos os tempos pela "Music of the Millennium" da Classic FM. Em 1998 a Q Magazine colocou-o em 17° lugar e, em 2000, em 7° lugar. A Rolling Stone colocou-o como o décimo entre 500 álbuns e o canal VH1 no 11° lugar. Delbert McClinton (Lubbock, Texas, November 4, 1940)  is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, harmonica player, and pianist.

Active as a side-man since 1962 and as a band leader since 1972, he has recorded several major record label albums, and charted singles on the Billboard Hot 100, Mainstream Rock Tracks, and Hot Country Songs charts. His highest-peaking single was "Tell Me About It", a 1992 duet with Tanya Tucker which reached No. 4 on the Country chart. He has also had four albums that made it to No. 1 on the U.S. Blues chart, and another that reached No. 2.

He was inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame,in March 2011, along with Lee Roy Parnell, Bruce Channel, Gary Nicholson, and Cindy Walker. In 2019, Delbert McClinton was honored by the historic Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas with the fifth star in their Walk of Fame (others are actors Jaston Williams and Joe Sears, and musical artists Jerry Jeff Walker and Lyle Lovett).
