Oliver Riedel, baixista dos Rammstein, celebra hoje 53 anos

  

Oliver Riedel (Schwerin, 11 de abril de 1971) é um músico alemão, mais conhecido por tocar baixo no grupo Rammstein. Mede 2,02 metros, sendo, portanto, o mais alto membro da banda. O seu cabelo é preto, embora esteja quase sempre com a cabeça raspada, e tem olhos verdes.

Cresceu junto com o pai e irmão até que, aos 16 anos, encontrou a mãe. É então quando consegue um trabalho num restaurante desta. Dois dias depois de completar 17 anos, o pai e o irmão faleceram. Trabalhou como cesteiro e pertencia a um grupo folk, onde tocava violino. É baixista do Rammstein desde a fundação da banda. A letra da música "Seemann" foi escrita por ele. O seu primeiro grupo foi The Inchtabokatables.

Leon Wilkeson, baixista dos Lynyrd Skynyrd, nasceu há 72 anos...

Leon Russell Wilkeson (Newport, Rhode Island, April 2, 1952 – Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, July 27, 2001) was the bassist of the Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd from 1972 until his death in 2001.

Wilkeson died in his sleep on July 27, 2001, at age 49 at the Sawgrass Marriott Resort & Beach Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. He was pronounced dead by St Johns County Fire Rescue Paramedic, Charlie Galambos. Galambos reports that leaving the scene moments after pronouncing Wilkeson dead, news had already leaked to the media, as he listened to the report on local FM radio. Wilkeson was in town to address charges of driving under the influence, for which he had been cited earlier that year. A medical examiner reported that Wilkeson was suffering from chronic liver and lung disease and died of natural causes. Wilkeson's death put the group in a difficult position since an agreement with Ronnie Van Zant's widow, Judy Jenness, mandated that at least three of Skynyrd's longtime members would have to appear in order for the band to use the name Lynyrd Skynyrd. Jenness waived this proviso, and the group continued with replacement bassist Ean Evans.

Lynyrd Skynyrd dedicated the song "Mad Hatter" from their 2003 album Vicious Cycle to Wilkeson's memory.

Stefan Alexander Bo Olsdal (Gotemburgo, Suécia, 31 de março de 1974) é um guitarrista, baixista e teclista que faz parte da banda de rock alternativo Placebo e do grupo musical Hotel Persona.

Foi para Luxemburgo quando era ainda novo, para a Escola Internacional Americana de Luxemburgo, onde conhece Brian Molko, elemento da banda Placebo. Stefan começou a tocar música no grupo musical da escola, em 1987. Completou o ensino secundário na Suécia e, com os pais, mudou-se para Londres onde estudou no Instituto de Músicos.

Adam Charles Clayton (Oxfordshire, 13 de março de 1960) é um músico inglês, baixista do U2, banda irlandesa de rock. Adam, que não teve aulas de música, é um autodidata que chegou a bom porto graças a muita dedicação e treino. Entre alguns dos temas em que o seu contributo é mais distinto temos "New Year's Day", "With or Without You" e "Gloria", "Bullet the Blue Sky", "Mysterious Ways", "Get on Your Boots" e "Magnificent". No álbum de estúdio No Line on the Horizon, foi citado como um melhor tocador de baixo.

Nas décadas de 80 e de 90, Adam apostou nos efeitos, com ênfase ao uso de "slaps", e "distorções". O baixista prefere um som mais puro e direto do seu instrumento. Seja qual for a abordagem, o "jazzman" da banda (assim chamado pelo vocalista da banda, Bono Vox) continua imprevisível e criativo. Chris Squire, o baixo já falecido dos Yes, nasceu há 76 anos

  

Christopher Russell Edward Squire, conhecido como Chris Squire (Londres, 4 de março de 1948 - Phoenix, 27 de junho de 2015) foi um músico britânico, famoso pelo seu trabalho como baixista da banda de rock progressivo Yes, da qual foi co-fundador e o único membro constante em todas as formações até à sua morte.

O estilo do baixo de Squire era melódico, dinâmico e agressivo, a sua marca pessoal. Ele usava caracteristicamente o baixo Rickenbacker 4001, que, com os seus ajustes pessoais, gerava um timbre inconfundível. Squire foi considerado o 18º melhor baixista do milénio, numa lista divulgada pela revista Guitar há poucos anos.

Em maio de 2015 foi-lhe diagnosticada leucemia e por isso afastou-se das atividades dos Yes, para fazer tratamento. Em 28 de junho de 2015, o teclista Geoff Downes postou, na sua conta de Twitter, que Squire falecera, de complicações decorrentes da doença.

Kelly Groucutt (born Michael William Groucutt; Coseley, 8 September 1945 – Worcester, 19 February 2009) was an English musician, and bassist and occasional vocalist for the English rock band Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), between 1974 and 1983. He was born in Coseley, West Midlands. 

 

Early career

Groucutt began his musical career at 15 as Rikki Storm of Rikki Storm and the Falcons. He sang with multiple outfits during the 1960s, picking up the guitar as he went along. Groucutt was also a member of a band called "Sight and Sound", and later with a band called "Barefoot".

 

Electric Light Orchestra

While playing with Barefoot in Birmingham, he was spotted by ELO's Jeff Lynne; and after Lynne, Bev Bevan and Richard Tandy had watched him play, he was invited to join ELO, to replace Mike de Albuquerque, who had recently left the band. Upon joining, he was asked to adopt a stage name because ELO had already had several members named Michael, Mike or Mik; he chose Kelly as being a school nickname. ELO then set off on their Eldorado tour. The first Electric Light Orchestra album to feature Kelly on bass guitar and as a backing vocalist was Face the Music (1975). He assumed lead vocal duties on one or two album tracks typically, and his vocals can be heard on later ELO songs, most prominently on songs such as "Nightrider" (1975), "Poker" (1975), "Above the Clouds" (1976), "Across the Border" (1977), "Night in the City" (1977), "Sweet is the Night" (1977) and "The Diary of Horace Wimp" (1979). Groucutt often displayed his operatic vocal talents during live performances of "Rockaria!" (1976), though these were not performed in the studio.

Groucutt continued contributing on the albums A New World Record (1976), Out of the Blue (1977), Discovery (1979), Xanadu (1980), Time (1981), and the early sessions for Secret Messages (1983). By Discovery, Groucutt's role in the band was reduced by Lynne from co-lead vocals to backing vocals exclusively, as well as his duties on bass.

In 1982, he released his self-titled, debut solo album, Kelly. This album featured fellow ELO members Bev Bevan, Richard Tandy, Mik Kaminski and their orchestral co-arranger and conductor Louis Clark.^[8] In 2001, the album was remastered for CD.

Groucutt remained with ELO until the onset of the recording sessions for the album Secret Messages in 1982. It was at this juncture that he left the band, unhappy with royalty payments during his tenure, and made the decision to sue management and band leader Jeff Lynne. A settlement for the sum of £300,000 (equivalent to £1,019,700 in 2019) was reached out of court prior to proceedings. He is credited with playing bass on Secret Messages, although the 2018 album liner notes state that he only played on four songs ("Train of Gold" and "Rock n Roll is King" from the single disc release and "No Way Out" and "Beatles Forever") from the original double album.

During the mid-to-late 1980s, Groucutt worked further on his solo career, including the We Love Animals EP in 1985 to benefit the RSPCA.

 

OrKestra

In the late 1980s, he and former band mate Mik Kaminski formed the group OrKestra. The pair quickly became dissatisfied with the poor promotion and record label the band received, especially as their first album, Beyond The Dream was delayed. Though at least one song was ready for use in the 1989 film Summer Job, the album itself was not released until 1991. By that point, Kaminski and Groucutt, joined by fellow ELO member Hugh McDowell, had guest starred in a tour with ELO Part II. In 1992, Groucutt and Kaminski both joined ELO Part II.

In 1993, the group's second album, Roll Over Beethoven was released under the OrKestra name, though by that point the band was seemingly defunct. It included more material from Groucutt and Kaminski's tenure in the band. It is unknown if OrKestra continued on after the two left.

 

ELO Part II and The Orchestra

During his time in ELO Part II, Groucutt frequently shared lead vocal duties with Neil Lockwood, Phil Bates, Peter Haycock, and Eric Troyer. However, Haycock and Lockwood both left the band shortly after Groucutt's arrival. When the group released Moment of Truth, Groucutt contributed the song "The Fox", and co-wrote "Blue Violin" and "Twist of the Knife". Groucutt also appeared on the live albums Performing ELO's Greatest Hits Live and One Night - Live in Australia.

While Groucutt was primarily the group's bassist, during some songs he would play guitar instead.

When Bev Bevan sold his half of the rights to ELO back to Jeff Lynne in 1999, Groucutt chose to remain with the group. It was renamed The Orchestra, in an attempt to get past Lynne's refusal to allow this group to bank on the past reputation of Groucutt, Kaminski, and Clark. He again made writing contributions to the group's next album, No Rewind, by co-writing the closing track, "Before We Go".

 

Personal life

Kelly Groucutt was married twice. His first marriage produced three sons (Christopher, Steven, and Robin) and a daughter (Jenny). The birth of his fourth child was around the same time he began to depart from ELO. In 2006, Groucutt wed Anna-Maria Bialaga. They remained married until his death.

 

Death

On 18 February 2009, Groucutt returned from a sell-out show with The Orchestra in Berlin. He suffered a heart attack shortly after, and died on the 19th at the Royal Worcester Hospital in Worcester. His family held a small, exclusive concert with members from The Orchestra in his memory.

After a successful crowdfunding campaign was held by his family, a plaque commemorating Groucutt was placed at his childhood home, where his family lived from 1937 to 1992.

Peter Hook (Salford, 13 de fevereiro de 1956) é um baixista, músico, autor e produtor musical britânico. Ele é mais conhecido por ter sido o baixista da banda de rock e música eletrónica New Order e, anteriormente, dos Joy Division.

Ele foi co-fundador dos Joy Division, juntamente com Bernard Sumner, em meados dos anos 70. Após a morte do vocalista, Ian Curtis, em 1980, a banda mudou o nome para New Order, onde se manteve como baixista até sair da banda, em 2007.

Michael Andrew McKagan (Seattle, 5 de fevereiro de 1964), mais conhecido pelo seu nome artístico de Duff McKagan, é um músico dos Estados Unidos, mais conhecido por ser um membro fundador e baixista, durante doze anos, da banda de hard rock Guns N' Roses, com quem alcançou sucesso mundial no final dos anos 80 e início de 90 e também que deixou, no auge da sua fama, em 1997. Durante os seus últimos anos com a banda, ele lançou um álbum a solo, Believe in Me (1993), e formou, com uma curta duração, o supergrupo Neurotic Outsiders.

Richard Raymond Finch ou apenas Richard Finch (Indianápolis, Indiana, 23 de janeiro de 1954) é um compositor, produtor, engenheiro e procurador musical. Ele é mais conhecido como ser um dos fundadores, produtor e ex-baixista do KC and the Sunshine Band.

   

Biografia

Nascido em Indianápolis, Indiana, a família Finch se mudou para Miami, Florida, quando ele ainda era bebé. O seu grupo favorito enquanto crescia eram Os Beatles. O seu gosto musical incluía soul e música country. No início da adolescência, Finch adquiriu experiência no baixo elétrico. Ele juntou-se a bandas de diversos países, antes de se juntar à banda Ball & Chain. Finch ficou interessado em técnicas de gravações de áudio e um colega lhe apresentou-o a um produtor, Clarence Reid da TK Records. Finch parou no ensino secundário, pois estava muito ocupado na TK Records e, finalmente, foi contratado como engenheiro de gravação na empresa. Henry Stone e Clarence Reid apresentaram o então adolescente Finch a Harry Wayne Casey, quatro anos mais velho, que trabalhava no departamento de expedição. Antes de sua apresentação a Casey (futuramente conhecido só por KC), Finch já havia se estabelecido na TK como um engenheiro qualificado, com mais de 127 singles gravados antes dos 17 anos de idade (incluindo faixas diversas para a Allman Brothers e Mother's Finest). Na semana de reunião, Finch e Casey começaram a compor, com suas canções de sucesso registado pela primeira vez por Betty Wright e George McCrae (Where Is The Love e Rock Your Baby). Finch, em seguida, reuniu os futuros membros da Sunshine Band, sendo todos amigos conhecido na TK, Jerome Smith (guitarrista) e o baterista Robert Johnson. Finch e Casey produziu inúmeros hits, incluindo "Shake Shake Shake (Shake Your Booty)", "Get Down Tonight", "Please Don't Go", "Boogie Shoes" e "I'm Your Boogie Man", Em janeiro de 1982 a banda KC and the Sunshine Band tinha-se separado e Casey foi fazer uma carreira a solo, mas, nos anos 90, Casey recuperou a banda com novos integrantes, Finch já não faz mais parte.

Finch é um vencedor de um Grammy e de um American Music Awards e tem uma estrela na Calçada da Fama.

Instrumentais de baixo e bateria de Finch foram usados por artistas como 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Ultra Naté, e Beyoncé Knowles.

Finch produz trabalhos de novos músicos no seu estúdio no Ohio e em todo o país e está em processo de lançamento da sua gravadora e de escrever a sua autobiografia, sendo um longa-metragem uma opção.

Phil Lynott, o baixo-vocalista e líder dos Thin Lizzy, morreu há 38 anos...

 

Philip Parris "Phil" Lynott (West Bromwich, 20 de agosto de 1949 – Salisbury, 4 de janeiro de 1986) foi um músico irlandês, célebre por ser o vocalista, baixista e principal compositor da banda de rock Thin Lizzy.

Como líder da banda, o baixo e os vocais de Lynott foram um elemento crucial no sucesso comercial de diversos dos seus sucessos, como "Whiskey in the Jar", "The Boys are Back in Town", "Jailbreak" e "Waiting for an Alibi". Lynott também teve uma carreira a solo, publicou dois livros de poesia, e, após o fim dos Thin Lizzy, formou a banda Grand Slam, da qual foi líder até ao seu fim, em 1984. No período que antecedeu a sua morte, teve um grande sucesso no Reino Unido juntamente com Gary Moore, primeiro com a canção "Out in the Fields", e em seguida com "Nineteen".
