Sal Solo, o vocalista dos Classix Nouveaux, nasceu há 63 anos


Sal Solo, born Christopher Scott Stevens (Hatfield, Hertfordshire, 5 September 1961) is an English singer. 

   

Career

Solo began his career with a band called The News, which released one 7" single on GTO Records. Then he formed the pop group Classix Nouveaux, with former members of X-Ray Spex, which became associated with the burgeoning New Romantic movement. They released three albums with EMI Records. Classix Nouveaux had number one hits in Poland, Portugal, Israel, Iceland and other countries in the early 1980s. They also had one top 20 and various other top 50 hits in the United Kingdom, including "Is It a Dream", which reached No. 11 on the UK Singles Chart. The band split in 1985. Between 1984 and 1992, he provided lead vocals for the French space rock group Rockets.

Following a pilgrimage to San Damiano in Italy, Solo embraced the Roman Catholic faith of his childhood. He had a solo hit with "San Damiano (Heart and Soul)" which reached No. 15 on the UK Singles Chart, and went to No. 1 in Poland. The song has since been recorded by several artists, including Aled Jones for his 2003 album Higher, which remained on the UK Albums Chart top 40 for several weeks, and earned a silver disc.

In 1987, Solo became active in youth ministry in the Catholic Church in the UK. During this time, he continued to write and perform new music. In the early 1990s, he released three albums of Christian music through the Christian record label, Word Records, followed by several more released independently. In 1999, he moved to Chicago, where he works with Catholic teens in the United States and other parts of the world, speaking on matters of faith and justice, and giving concerts and youth retreats.

Barbara Joana Streisand, (Brooklyn, Nova Iorque, 24 de abril de 1942), conhecida como Barbra Streisand, é uma cantora, compositora, atriz, diretora e produtora cinematográfica norte-americana, de origem judaica, vencedora de 2 Óscares, tendo sido nomeada para mais três estatuetas. Ela divide com Cher a distinção de ter sido premiada com o Óscar de Melhor Atriz e também ter gravado um single número um no Hot 100 da Billboard. Ela ganhou dois Óscares, oito prémios Grammy, quatro prémios Emmy, um prémio Tony especial e um American Film Institute.
Ela é uma das artistas mais bem-sucedidas comercial e criticamente na história do entretenimento moderno, com mais de 71,5 milhões de álbuns vendidos nos Estados Unidos e 140 milhões de álbuns vendidos em todo o mundo. Streisand é uma das poucas estrelas do show business a conquistar prémios em diversas áreas da arte - Óscar (cinema), Grammy (música), Tony (teatro) e Emmy (televisão). Ela foi também a primeira mulher a simultaneamente produzir, dirigir, escrever e atuar em um filme ("Yentl", em 1983).
Ela iniciou a sua carreira em 1965, com a peça da Broadway "I Can get it For you Wholesale". O seu primeiro disco, The Barbra Streisand Album, foi lançado em 1963 e deu-lhe dois Prémios Grammy. Barbra possui uma voz poderosa e imprime uma interpretação dramática às músicas que grava, especialmente nas baladas românticas. Ela fez duetos com artistas como Neil Diamond, Donna Summer, Frank Sinatra, Celine Dion, Bryan Adams, Burt Bacharach e Barry Gibb.
A sua estreia no cinema foi em 1968, com o musical "Funny Girl", e a sua atuação neste rendeu-lhe o Óscar de melhor atriz. Foi indicada também pelo filme "Nosso Amor de Ontem", em 1973. Também ganhou o Óscar de melhor canção original pelo filme "Nasceu uma Estrela" em 1976. Em 1964, casou-se com o ator Elliot Gouldy, de quem teve o seu único filho, Jason, mas o divórcio veio logo depois que conquistou o Óscar de melhor atriz. Depois de vários romances, a atriz e cantora casou em 1998 com o ator e diretor James Brolin.
