Thomas Bangalter, dos Daft Punk, faz hoje 38 anos

Thomas Bangalter est un musicien, chanteur, disc jockey, réalisateur et scénariste français né le 3 janvier 1975 à Paris et est notamment l'un des membres du groupe de musique électronique Daft Punk. Il est le fils de Daniel Bangalter, alias Daniel Vangarde, producteur et parolier français des années 1970.

En 1987, Thomas Bangalter rencontre Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo au Lycée Carnot, à Paris. Ensemble et avec Laurent Brancowitz, futur guitariste du groupe Phoenix, ils formeront le groupe de rock Darlin' en 1992, puis Daft Punk en 1993.

En 2002, il signe la bande originale du film Irréversible de Gaspard Noé, avec Vincent Cassel et Monica Bellucci. La même année, il co-signe le scénario de Interstella 5555, un animé basé sur l'album Discovery.

En 2009, il collabore à nouveau avec Gaspard Noé pour la bande sonore de Enter the Void.

Thomas Bangalter a fondé en 1995 son propre label, Roulé, sur lequel il sort ses propres productions et produit d'autres groupes. Il a eu deux fils, Tarrajey et Roxan, avec sa femme l'actrice française Élodie Bouchez.

Artiste aussi prolifique que discret (il refuse de se montrer à visage découvert - règle qu'il s'est imposée au sein des Daft Punk - sauf en de rares occasions, comme lors de la soirée Alors les filles on fête Noël en décembre 2006 ou lors de la soirée d'anniversaire de l'ex-manager du duo Daft Punk Busy P. à Los Angeles en avril 2009). Il est un des initiateurs de la French Touch, grâce à ses nombreuses collaborations (la plus marquante étant Stardust).

Auteur du titre Gym Tonic en 1998 pour Bob Sinclar, disponible sur l'album Paradise, Bob Sinclar a utilisé la chanson en version maxi sans son consentement, Bob Sinclar s'est approprié la paternité du morceau, créditant sur l'album Thomas Bangalter de «remixer». Les avocats de Jane Fonda sont allés en justice car sa voix avait été samplée sans son accord.

Thomas Bangalter est un artiste aux vastes goûts musicaux, ce qui lui a en partie permis d'étendre sa célébrité à l'international. On retrouve notamment son nom sur l'album The Big Bang du rappeur Busta Rhymes, dans lequel il collabore au morceau Touch It.

En 2010, il compose les musiques de Tron : L'Héritage.

En 2011, il réalise le court-métrage publicitaire "S/S 2012" pour la marque de vêtements Co, dans lequel joue sa femme, l'actrice Elodie Bouchez.
