Robert Allen Palmer (Batley, 19 January 1949 – Paris, 26 September 2003), born in Batley, Yorkshire, was a Grammy Award winning English singer-songwriter. He was known for his distinctive voice and the eclectic mix of musical styles on his albums, combining soul, jazz, rock, pop, reggae and blues

Palmer's involvement in the music industry began in the 1960s, covered four decades and included a spell with the band Vinegar Joe. He found success both in his solo career and with the Power Station, and had Top 10 songs in both the United Kingdom and the United States in the 1980s. Three of his hit singles, "I Didn't Mean to Turn You On", "Addicted to Love" and "Simply Irresistible", were accompanied with stylish music videos directed by British fashion photographer Terence Donovan.

Palmer received a number of awards throughout his career, including two Grammy Awards for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance, an MTV Video Music Award and two Brit Award nominations for Best British Male Solo Artist. He died aged 54, following a heart attack on 26 September 2003.

Tina Turner (nascida Anna Mae Bullock; Brownsville, 26 de novembro de 1939 - Küsnacht, 24 de maio de 2023) foi uma cantora, dançarina e atriz suíça nascida nos Estados Unidos. Amplamente referida como a "Rainha do Rock 'n' Roll", ela ganhou destaque como vocalista da Ike & Tina Turner antes de lançar uma carreira de sucesso como artista a solo. Turner renunciou à cidadania americana em 2013. Ela morou na Suíça desde 1995 até à sua morte, no ano de 2023.

Turner começou a sua carreira com os Kings of Rhythm de Ike Turner, em 1957. Sob o nome de Little Ann, ela apareceu no seu primeiro disco, "Boxtop", em 1958. Em 1960, ela foi apresentada como Tina Turner com o dueto do single "A Fool in Love". A dupla Ike & Tina Turner se tornou "um dos mais formidáveis ​​shows ao vivo da história". Eles lançaram sucessos como "It's Gonna Work Out Fine", "River Deep - Mountain High", "Proud Mary" e "Nutbush City Limits" antes de se separarem em 1976. Em 1993, What's Love Got to Do with It, um filme biográfico adaptado de sua autobiografia I, Tina: My Life Story, foi lançado. Em 2009, Turner retirou-se depois de completar a sua Tina!: 50th Anniversary Tour.

Tendo vendido mais de 100 milhões de discos em todo o mundo, Turner foi um dos artistas mais vendidos de todos os tempos. Ela recebeu 12 prémios Grammy, que incluem oito prémios competitivos, três prémios Grammy Hall of Fame e um Prémio Grammy de Contribuição em Vida. Foi a primeira artista negra e primeira mulher a estar na capa da Rolling Stone. Palmer died from a heart attack in a Paris hotel room on 26 September 2003 at age 54. He had been in the French capital after recording a television appearance in London for Yorkshire TV, a retrospective titled My Kinda People. He was survived by his parents, his son and daughter, his brother Mark, and his girlfriend Mary Ambrose. Among those who paid tribute were Duran Duran, stating: "He was a very dear friend and a great artist. This is a tragic loss to the British music industry.
