John Williams - noventa anos...!

  

John Towner Williams (Long Island, 8 de fevereiro de 1932) é um aclamado compositor norte-americano premiado várias vezes por suas bandas sonoras.

Amigo de Steven Spielberg, assina quase todas as bandas sonoras dos seus filmes, tais como os temas inesquecíveis de Jurassic Park, Jaws, Schindler's List e E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Também é parceiro do cineasta George Lucas, sendo o autor das famosas bandas sonoras das bem sucedidas séries cinematográficas Star Wars e Indiana Jones. Outras bandas sonoras famosas de autoria de Williams são a dos três primeiros episódios da série Harry Potter e a banda sonoras do primeiro filme do Superman feito por Christopher Reeve. Com a banda sonora de The Book Thief, John Williams consegue a incrível marca de 49 nomeações para o Óscar, atualmente 50 com o seu novo trabalho para Star Wars. Williams ganhou com a música para filmes como Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Schindler's List e Fiddler on the Roof.

É considerado um dos maiores compositores da história do cinema, tanto pelo volume de sua obra, como pela sua popularidade. Com 50 nomeações, John Williams é segunda pessoa mais proposta para os Óscares da história, perdendo para apenas Walt Disney. O seu trabalho para o cinema é marcado por um estilo grandioso, facilmente reconhecido pelo público. Na sua carreira soma cerca de 112 prémios para 220 nomeações, segundo o Internet Movie Database, sendo o compositor de bandas sonoras para filmes mais premiado da história.

Além dos seus trabalhos em bandas sonoras de filmes, é conhecido também pelas suas obras eruditas e concertos para fagote e orquestra, para violoncelo, para trompete, violino, flauta e um concerto para trompa.
